2. Hosting, CDN, and Server Logs

This website is hosted on servers located in Germany (Frankfurt am Main). To ensure fast content delivery worldwide, we use AWS CloudFront (Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL / Amazon.com, Inc.) as a Content Delivery Network (CDN).

When you access this website, the following data is automatically processed and stored for up to 14 days:

• IP address of the requesting device
• Date and time of access
• Requested content/URLs and status codes
• Possible error and security events (e.g., failed login attempts)

Purpose: Website operation, security (attack prevention), troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Legal basis:

  • Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

Data transfers to third countries: When using CloudFront, personal data (e.g., IP addresses) may be transferred to non-EU countries, including the USA. Transfers are based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and AWS’s supplementary safeguards.

3. Cookies and Web Analytics

Consent cookie

This website stores your cookie consent decision in a cookie (name: cookie-consent, duration: 60 days). This cookie contains no personal data and is technically necessary to remember your preference.

Google Analytics 4

With your consent, this website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”).

GA4 uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information about how visitors use this website. The following data may be processed:

  • Anonymized IP address
  • Pages visited and time spent on the site
  • Referral source (how you arrived at the site)
  • Device type, operating system, and browser
  • Geographic region (country/city level)
  • Interactions such as clicks and scroll depth

Purpose: Understanding how visitors use our website in order to improve content and user experience.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — your explicit consent, given via the cookie consent banner on your first visit.

Google Consent Mode v2: We implement Google Consent Mode v2. If you decline cookies, GA4 operates in a restricted mode — no personal data is collected or transmitted to Google. Google may produce aggregated, anonymized behavioral models to estimate overall traffic patterns; your individual data is not involved.

Retention: GA4 data is retained for 14 months by default (configurable in Google Analytics account settings).

Data transfers: Google may transfer and process data on servers in the USA and other countries. Transfers are governed by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) and Google’s Data Processing Amendment. For more information see Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Analytics Data Processing Terms .

Withdrawing consent: You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies (which will re-show the consent banner on your next visit) or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on .

4. Email Communication

If you contact us via email, we process the data you provide (e.g., name, email address, message content) to handle your inquiry.

Legal basis:

  • Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual or contractual communication)
  • Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to inquiries)

Retention period: Data will be stored until your request is completed; longer only if statutory retention obligations apply. For purely informational requests without further follow-up: maximum 6 months.

5. Recipients and Processors

Your data will not be disclosed to third parties except where necessary, required by law, or where you have provided consent. Service providers are carefully selected, contractually bound to comply with Art. 28 GDPR, and regularly reviewed for data protection and security compliance.

Current processors:

  • Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL — hosting and CDN (AWS Amplify, CloudFront)
  • Google Ireland Limited — web analytics (Google Analytics 4), only with your consent

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal (Art. 7(3) GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).

7. Deletion of Data

Personal data will be deleted once the purpose of processing no longer applies, unless legal retention periods require otherwise.
